Virtual Support Groups

At Upland Family Counseling we offer a virtual group option that can help with mental health and/or addiction support needs.

Core Focus Areas:

  • Identifying triggers and underlying causes of substance use
  • Developing healthy coping strategies and relapse prevention plans
  • Addressing co-occurring mental health issues (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc.)
  • Exploring family dynamics and relationship challenges related to addiction
  • Strengthening motivation for recovery through goal-setting and accountability

Therapeutic Approaches:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for changing harmful thought patterns
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and distress tolerance
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance readiness for change
  • Mindfulness and stress management techniques
  • Harm reduction strategies when applicable

Support Systems & Life Skills

  • Rebuilding self-esteem and personal identity beyond addiction
  • Strengthening communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Providing education on the effects of substances on the brain and body
  • Encouraging family involvement and support networks
  • Creating a structured plan for long-term recovery and well-being
