Virtual Support Groups
At Upland Family Counseling we offer a virtual group option that can help with mental health and/or addiction support needs.
Core Focus Areas:
- Identifying triggers and underlying causes of substance use
- Developing healthy coping strategies and relapse prevention plans
- Addressing co-occurring mental health issues (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc.)
- Exploring family dynamics and relationship challenges related to addiction
- Strengthening motivation for recovery through goal-setting and accountability
Therapeutic Approaches:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for changing harmful thought patterns
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and distress tolerance
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance readiness for change
- Mindfulness and stress management techniques
- Harm reduction strategies when applicable
Support Systems & Life Skills
- Rebuilding self-esteem and personal identity beyond addiction
- Strengthening communication and conflict resolution skills
- Providing education on the effects of substances on the brain and body
- Encouraging family involvement and support networks
- Creating a structured plan for long-term recovery and well-being
